Poetry

Autumn

The leaves are putting on their evening gowns
Of yellow, orange and red
They are on their way to the autumn ball
Before they go to bed.
The North Wind blows and blows
They twirl upon the tree branch
They swing themselves off the tree
Just watch them gaily dance!
They make a carpet upon the earth
Multi colours on the ground
The carpet is so beautiful
In shops it cannot be found.
Watch the children playing in the leaves
Kicking them all around
Watching them as they gently flutter
Back towards the ground.

Colours

It was funny I'll always know
When I walked into that store
And saw her sitting with neon socks
And a multicoloured frock
She had a purse of crocodile skin
It's handles attached with safety pins
In her hand she held a shoe
Which was multicoloured too
You should have smelt her scent should have seen her dress
You could see that the woman was a ghastly mess
You should have seen them throw her onto the street
All you could see waving were her neon feet
The woman caused a traffic jam
Until she was picked up by her husband Sam
When I saw him all I could do was stare
At the, worst dressed, multicoloured pair.

My Hiding Place

Lord you are my hiding place

In the storms of life

You promised to keep me safe from harm

From sorrow and from strife.

You are the Rose of Sharon

From sin you set me free

Draw me Lord closer

Closer unto thee.

You are the living water

To a weary thirsty soul

And with thy help Lord I’ll proceed

Towards my heavenly goal.

You are the wind beneath my wings

Which helps me to fly

Without you Lord I cannot win

Over sin even though I try.

You are a teacher and physician

And a shepherd who tends his flock

Lord I’m sorry I keep you running

After me around the clock.

Thank you for watching over me

And keeping me safe from harm

Thank you for making my stormy life

Peaceful and calm.
